Radio Station 1420AM, 10:00AM Saturdays

To God Be The Glory!

2011 Celebrating African American History
"The mission of the African American Inspiration (AAI) program is to produce an exciting radio program each week for 30 minutes celebrating the rich legacy and history of African Americans throughout the year." - Bettye Hendricks, AAI Host

In the Beginning...
The idea of a radio show that informed its listeners about current cultural and civic events interspersed with African American historical facts was one that Ms. Bettye Hendricks had dreamed about for quite some time.  "Actually the cultural and civic activities are interspersed with our history," Ms. Hendricks is quick to assert.  "Our African American history is the most important aspect of the show.  In fact, the show was conceived to make people aware of our history other than solely during the month of February.  I think we deserve better than that."  Thus, African American Inspiration, the radio show airing every Saturday at 10:00 a.m. on WFLT 1420 AM, was born.

The very first African American Inspiration broadcast was at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 5, 2006.  One of Ms. Hendrick's very first guests was a representative of the show's sponsor at the time, Charles Winfrey of the "New" McCree Theatre.  Since then, 120 programs have aired.  The "New" McCree Theatre continues to sponsor this radio program.
